New Tools for Winter 2009

 

Jet is set to make a big push into the world of bench top tools with upcoming band saws, drill presses, and table saws for the market this winter.  First out is their series of bench top miter saws, which includes a 10" compound miter saw, as well as 10" and 12" sliding saws.  Pricing starts at around $299 and goes up to $699 for the 12" sliding compound miter saw.
   
Delta has a long overdue upgrade to it venerable Unisaw cabinet table saw. Left in the dust a couple of years ago by the Powermatic PM2000 series these saws are finally up to speed with the newer cabinet saw models on the market today.  The good news is that the saws will be made in the U.S.  New features include upfront bevel and blade height wheels, built in riving knife, one piece cast iron trunnion, and arbor lock.  The bad news is preliminary pricing has the saw starting around $3000.
   
Bosch has finally fully entered the realm of lithium ion cordless drills leaving only DeWalt as the only major hold out for a full line of lithium ion drills.  The Bosch series includes features such as built in LED lights, a new ECP (Electronic Cell Protection) system for improved battery life, and increased torque.  Pricing for the 14.4 volt model starts at around $179
   
Milwaukee has finally upgraded their line of miter saws to include the 6955-20 sliding saw, and the 6950-20 compound miter saw.  Both saws feature a 3.3 hp motor, built in work light, digital angle display, and integrated dust collection.  Pricing starts at around $499.
   
Porter-Cable has a introduced a new line of 5" low profile random orbital sanders.  The 390K features a 3 amp variable speed motor and uses hook and loop style sand paper.  Pricing is around $129.
